In order to meet these responsibilities the Fire Prevention Division is based in four regional offices located in Barre, Rutland, Springfield and Williston with the main office located in Montpelier.  Each office provides regional problem solving, review of construction documents, electrical permitting, safety inspections, public safety education, data management, product or site investigation and emergency response to hazardous materials or other incidents. The main office in Montpelier also provides data management for the National Fire Incident Reporting System, licensing of electricians and plumbers and certification of other technically qualified people for specialty trades.  Administrative citations, penalties, and variances are also a function of the main office.
